“Age of Vice” by Deepti Kapoor is a gripping crime thriller and family saga set in contemporary India. The story revolves around a mysterious car accident that kills five people in New Delhi. As the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that the car belongs to the wealthy Wadia family, but there is no sign of the owner. The narrative takes us on a journey through the seductive wealth, corruption, and violence of the Wadia family.

The story follows three characters: Ajay, the loyal servant who rises through the ranks of the Wadia family; Sunny, the playboy heir who dreams of outshining his father; and Neda, the curious journalist who is caught between morality and desire. As their lives become dangerously intertwined, the plot is fueled by loss, pleasure, greed, yearning, violence, and revenge.

The novel takes us from the dusty villages of Uttar Pradesh to the urban energy of New Delhi, and the author deftly shifts between time and perspective. “Age of Vice” is an intoxicating mix of gangsters and lovers, false friendships, forbidden romance, and the consequences of corruption. It is a binge-worthy entertainment that is literary at its best.
