THE ZEG BOOKCLUB: STONER

With the hundreds of new books released yearly, I decided to select at least one vintage book a year to read. I stumbled upon this gem written in 1965 that moved me and forced me to face some truths in my life.

Stoner by John Williams is a novel about William Stoner, a farm boy from Missouri who goes to college to study agriculture but becomes enamored with literature instead. As he navigates his way through academia, Stoner faces challenges and obstacles, including a difficult marriage and professional setbacks. Ultimately, the book is a poignant and moving portrait of a man trying to find his place in the world and grappling with the complexities of love, loss, and the human condition.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. It’s a classic that should be read in one’s lifetime.
