ART

The Color Factory

When most people think of a traditional art exhibit, they think of a piece of art on a wall and themselves standing in front of it trying to interpret the artists’ vision and, in most cases that is the setup. However, I’ve found the perfect art exhibit that breaks all those rules!

This two-story interactive exhibit takes you through color themed rooms, some reminiscent of your childhood. From writing on the walls with a life-sized magic marker in the green room to submerging yourself in yellow plastic balls in the yellow room you are sure to feel like a kid again.

A genius idea at the Color Factory is photography. Upon arrival, you are given a card (looks like a gift card) that is registered to you. You scan the card at the camera set up in every room, you then position yourself and after the countdown, it takes your picture and automatically emails it to you. This is how the cool shot below was photographed in the yellow room.

So if you’re in the San Francisco area make it a point to fit this into your itinerary you won’t be disappointed. Also, plan ahead tickets sell out fairly quickly. The Color Factory is located at 575 Sutter St. Tickets-$35/
